IV Certification FAQ

Common questions.

Who can take this course?

Active Florida-licensed LPNs only. RNs already have IV scope under their license; they don't need this course.

Is this a one-time certification?

Yes. Florida doesn't require periodic renewal of LPN IV certification. Once completed, the credential is yours for the life of your LPN license.

Will my employer accept this certificate?

Yes. The course meets Florida Board of Nursing requirements (Rule 64B9-12.005). The certificate is recognized at every Florida hospital, long-term care facility, and home-health agency.

How much hands-on practice do I get?

Roughly half the day is lab work — site selection, IV starts on simulator arms, pump programming, push administration. Most students leave having done 5+ successful starts.

Is there a written exam?

Yes — a multiple-choice exam at the end of the day covering anatomy, fluids, complications, and Florida scope of practice. Most students pass first time. Re-take is free.

Why is this only at Lake City?

The lab equipment is currently set up only at our Lake City flagship facility. We may add Gainesville or Jacksonville cohorts as demand grows.
