Curriculum
What you'll learn.
Our Florida Board-approved 30-hour IV Therapy program is delivered using a blended learning format designed to provide maximum flexibility for busy healthcare professionals. Participants complete the didactic portion of the intravenous therapy education through eight online modules provided by our approved CE provider. Once the online coursework has been completed, students schedule the instructor-led skills session at a time that is convenient for them. During the classroom and skills lab portion of the program, participants receive hands-on instruction and competency validation in IV catheter insertion, IV medication administration, fluid management, and related intravenous therapy procedures. The ability to complete the didactic modules online and schedule the instructor-led training separately allows students to progress through the program at their own pace while minimizing time away from work and personal commitments.
You'll start IVs on training arms with realistic vein simulation. Most LPNs hit at least 5 successful sticks during the practical portion.

IV Certification FAQ
Common questions.
Who can take this course?
Active Florida-licensed LPNs only. RNs already have IV scope under their license; they don't need this course.
Is this a one-time certification?
Yes. Florida doesn't require periodic renewal of LPN IV certification*. Once completed, the credential is yours for the life of your LPN license.
*Induvial employers may require updates or refresher courses to be taken for their specific facility.
Will my employer accept this certificate?
Yes. The course meets Florida Board of Nursing requirements (Rule 64B9-12.005). The certificate is recognized at every Florida hospital, long-term care facility, and home-health agency.
How much hands-on practice do I get?
Roughly half the day is lab work — site selection, IV starts on simulator arms, pump programming, push administration. Most students leave having done 5+ successful starts.
Is there a written exam?
Yes — a multiple-choice exam at the end of the day covering anatomy, fluids, complications, and Florida scope of practice. Most students pass first time. Re-take is free.
Why is this only at Lake City?
The lab equipment is currently set up only at our Lake City flagship facility. We may add Gainesville or Jacksonville cohorts as demand grows. ***> UPDATE, We now offer our Florida LPN IV Certification in Jacksonville and Ocala Florids !
