- Medication Administration Techniques: Learn the proper methods for administering medications via various routes, including oral, rectal, inhaled, enteral, topical, and insulin injections using prefilled syringes or pens.
- Legal Responsibilities and Scope of Practice: Understand the legal framework governing Medication Aides, including tasks you are permitted and not permitted to perform, to ensure compliance and resident safety.
- Accurate Documentation: Master the art of precise documentation using Medication Administration Records (MAR), including handling PRN medications and time-limited orders.
- Infection Control Practices: Implement effective infection prevention strategies during medication administration, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and disposal of biohazardous waste.
- Understanding Medications: Gain insights into common medications, their indications, side effects, and potential adverse reactions, and learn how to monitor residents for these effects.
- Professional Ethics and Boundaries: Uphold professional ethics by respecting resident rights, ensuring privacy and confidentiality, and establishing appropriate professional boundaries.
