Why Enroll in an IV Therapy Course?
-
Expand Your Skills
Go beyond basic nursing duties by mastering IV insertion, fluid and medication administration, and infusion monitoring.
Increase Your Marketability
Employers value LPNs who can handle a broader range of clinical tasks. IV therapy certification makes you stand out in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
Comply with Florida Regulations
Our course meets the Florida Board of Nursing requirements for post-basic IV therapy education (per Florida Administrative Code 64B9-12). You’ll be trained to practice safely and within legal boundaries.
Boost Patient Care Quality
IV therapy is crucial for patient recovery and well-being. By perfecting your skills, you can provide more efficient and effective care to those who rely on IV treatments.
-
Employment Opportunities
-
Hospitals and Acute Care
Having IV therapy certification or advanced IV skills can improve hiring prospects in med-surg units, ERs, and ICU settings.
Long-Term Care Facilities
Skilled nursing and rehab centers often need LPNs who can administer IV antibiotics, fluids, or nutritional support.
Home Health and Hospice
IV therapy is common in home health, particularly for hydration, pain management, or long-term antibiotics.
Infusion Clinics
Specialized infusion centers (e.g., oncology, rheumatology) rely on nurses who excel at venous access and infusion monitoring.

Regulatory Framework
-
The Florida Board of Nursing (FBON) is the primary regulatory authority overseeing nursing practice within the state.
Under Florida Administrative Code 64B9-12, the Board sets forth rules for LPNs wishing to perform IV therapy.
RNs typically receive IV training as part of their initial nursing education, but LPNs must complete a post-basic IV therapy course that meets FBON standards if they plan to start IVs, administer fluids/medications intravenously, or maintain IV lines beyond basic preparation.
-
Regulatory Framework
-
While Florida’s Board of Nursing does not require a separate “IV Therapy License,” nurses are required to maintain an active LPN or RN license.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs): Florida nurses must complete specific CEUs for license renewal, though IV-specific modules are not universally mandated unless specified by the nurse’s employer or specialty area.
Some healthcare employers may require annual competencies or refresher courses to ensure IV skills remain up to date.
